The three days youth peace dialogue meeting has ended in Bor, Jonglei

 Bor Mar 18, 2017 (Jonglei Times)-The three days peace dialogue meeting that was organized by Jonglei Institute for Democracy and Development (JIPDD) a Bor based civil society organization has ended in Bor, Jonglei state
Jonglei Institute for Democracy and Development (JIPDD) aim to strengthen a free and independent media that promotes freedom of expression for all citizens, a media that provides a platform for citizens to express their views freely, discuss issues that affect them.
The peace dialogue meeting aim to discuss the internal issues within the greater Bor communities in Jonglei state, the issues rise was cultural elopement and impregnation, high bride prize, divorce.
The issues also arise is land disputes over the town of Wangulei, Pariak, Pan-wel and Bor town.
The youths Cattle theft, disputes over swampy area/grazing areas.
The youth also discussed economic issues: Poverty, and unemployment, street children and the Issues related to traditional sport activities: wrestling, dancing.
The youths also reviews on the new Dinka Bor customary laws
The peace dialogue meeting also discusses external issues between the Dinka Bor communities and their Neighbors that include cattle rustling /raiding and child abduction, road ambushes, disputes over grazing land and water points.
The youths also discussed inflation, famine, food security, lack of social amenities: schools, clinics, hospitals, roads and political polarization.
Mary Yom Buol the chairlady of Jonglei Institute for Democracy and Development (JIPDD) she appreciate the youth leaders of greater Bor communities for mobilizing over hundred youths to come for  Jonglei youths peace dialogue meeting.
We need cooperation with you as JIPDD; we are here for peace, we are not here to build conflict that’s why JIPDD was form to promote and build peace among the youth of Jonglei state she said.
Mary urges VISTAS to provide more workshops that concern dialogue for the youths and elders so that they can be together in peace.
Mayom Deng Giet the chairperson of Jonglei state Peace commission says we have been doing so many peace dialogue meeting with the youths and we have not giving up and we are going do more we want to engage youths in the dialogue.
Manyuon Akuoch John the youth leader of Duk County says if we need peace to prevail in Jonglei lets build peace between us then to our neighbors.
The three days peace dialogue was facilitated by VISTAZ program.
VISTAS has partnered with the Jonglei Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (JIPDD) on a number of grants pertaining to peace building and conflict mitigation in Jonglei state, including a social media grant with an internet café for youth engagement in the dissemination of accurate, reliable and timely information and conflict mitigation.
