Democracy International conducts NGOs Act training in Jonglei

Bor, Mar 29 (Jonglei Times)- The Jonglei civil society network (JSCSOs) in partnership with the Democracy International (DI) through its Systems to uphold the credibility and constitutionality of elections in South Sudan (SUCCESS) project holds the training of community base and civil society organizations in Bor, Jonglei State.
The 3-Day training which aims to aware the organizations on NGOs act, Relief and Rehabilitation Commission act and NGO registration process in South Sudan kickoff on Monday at Garden Resort Hotel.

The Project Officer-Civic Education for Democracy International Mr. Wani Michael stated that the workshop will educate the local organizations about the appropriate ways or legal requirements for registration processes with the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.

Mr. Michael said the training will also give room to the participants to elaborate more on the issues contradicting between the new NGOs act and RRC act, 2016.

He urged the participants to highlight the challenges they are facing in term of the registration process and their normal operations in the region.
“When you are writing your project please consult with the community members that you are targeting such that you meet their requirements or needs. 

You should have to know the concerned donor or funding organizations when submitting your project proposal”, he said

Mr. Wani added that the training will empower the local organizations on their mandates as non-profit making institutions and fairness in delivery of services to the public or communities in need.

“You need to have your constitution, concept paper, leadership structure; source of funds and to contains the entire legal status from the authorities or commissions for your safe operations and
delivery of services”, Wani also reinstated Michael assured that Democracy International will assist the upcoming civil society organizations in the registration processes especially
in term of financial support and procedures at the national level.

He directed the Jonglei civil society network, the only umbrella for the Civil Society Organizations in Bor to identify and submit the list of the new civil society organizations to Democracy International for assistance in registration process in Juba, South Sudan.
The activity which will end on Tuesday intends to empowering civil society to increase awareness and engage stakeholders on best ways of CBOs, CSOs and NGOs functioning and guidance on NGO act in the State.
