(Mar 11, 2017 -Pibor, South Sudan) The Governor of South Sudan’s Boma State, Ismail Konyi, has
accused the government of Jonglei State of supporting the attack
launched by local youth on Kotchar and Mau areas in Boma State since
last weekend.
Governor Konyi told Radio Tamazuj on Friday, that local youth
who attacked their areas were heavily armed, claiming that the attackers

Konyi noted that the head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, David Shearer, is planning to visit Boma state to acquaint himself with the situation after the recent fighting in Kotchar area. Governor Konyi reiterated his commitment for peace between the two states. For his part, Ayuen Guet Roor, a representative of Jonglei youth,
said they have declared a unilateral ceasefire on the occasion of National Day of Prayer called for by President Salva Kiir on friday.
However, the group gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the government of Boma and the UN mission to bring back the abducted children and raided cattle during an attack on Jalle and Gadiang in December last year.
The youth leader denied accusations of receiving support from their government.
