Nairobi, Mar 28 (Jonglei Times)-The Inter-Governmental Authority for the Development (IGAD) of Eastern Africa called for opening humanitarian paths in South Sudan to settle the crisis in this country, said today sources of the bloc.
IGAD expressed its concern about the worsened situation in Yuba and pointed out the urgent need of affected people for aid.
In a statement issued during the regional summit held last Saturday in this capital city, IGAD leaders condemned the spread of rebel groups throughout South Sudan, while calling for giving up armed struggle as a way to win security in the country and solve the problems of thousands of people in South Sudan.
According to the statement, leaders of the summit asked Sudan and South Sudan to be sure that their territories are not used by armed groups that threaten security in the two countries.
During the meeting on refugees in Somalia, IGAD urged all parties of the conflict to commit fully to the implementation of the peace agreement signed.
